Going "Green"
The Amazing Shrinking Home

With many Americans going green and accepting the less-is-more concept, homes as small as 65 square feet up to 837 square feet are springing up in the smallest and most unlikely places in metro areas across the US and elsewhere. These “tiny or skinny” homes built on lots as small as 274 square feet (0.0064 acre) and just 10’ wide are becoming hugely popular due to their small environmental impact, overall cost compared to a traditional homes and scarcity of large parcels of land anywhere near the city.

Tiny homes are great for the environment because they don’t require huge amounts of resources to maintain and materials to build and they can typically be purchased for anywhere between $60-$150 per square foot, plus the price of your land; which can be as little as $2 per day.
